String theory

A poem about 'you know who' by daddy.. I'm flattered :)

My kitty goes crazy for strings
Oh what joy it brings

Always chasing the ends
Perhaps imagining it's prey in forests dense

Every time he wakes up from deep sleep
All his senses numb, limbs weak
At the sight of a string he'll spring into action
Like manta shrimp, what swift reaction

As he sizes up ,he wiggles and waggles
Contemplating his attack angles
First the prowl ,then the big pounce
Then back to the starting block unannounced

Thin strings, thick, long or short
Can catch em all as he moves like a dart
Only for a short while, will the interest remain
After a few catches, look of bore and disdain

Counted rabbit, finch, lizards and mouse
Killing for fun he doesn't espouse
Bring home the bounty, share his feat
No trophy hunting, only catch and release

What's the need to hunt you ask
With meals on time, warm milk in a flask
Not everything needs a purpose you see
Life can be fun, what you want it to be

My kitty goes crazy for strings
Oh what joy it brings !
